From the 31st of May to the 2nd of June 2025, our Troop had our annual June Camp take place at West Coast Park. This new venue challenged Scouts to adapt to a different environment and step out of their comfort zone, to become comfortable with being uncomfortable.
The camp engaged the scouts in many different activities, from practicing basic drills like Inspection to campsite development and a hike to the Southern waterfront of Singapore, which tested their endurance as a Troop. These helped bring the Scouts closer together not just as their patrols but as a Troop, encouraging one another and succeeding through teamwork.
As a Scout, it is also key to have fun while outdoors, hence new activities such as Archery and a Spartan Race which not just engaged our scouts in bonding, but also provided a fresh side to Scouting for the Troop.
Despite competing with each other, the patrols were able to know when to work together as a Troop and support other patrols. In recognition of exceptional teamwork and leadership displayed during the camp, these Scouts and this patrol have been commended:
Outstanding Secondary 1 Scout: Kieran Ching (Shark)
Outstanding Secondary 2 Scout: Jaric Low (Wolf)
Outstanding Secondary 3 Scouts: Elvis Too (SPL), Alden Lee (Rhino), Alston Toh (Wolf)
Best Patrol: Pigeon Patrol

Congratulations to the awardees of June Camp 2025!
Below are the reflections of the Patrol Leader of this year’s best patrol as well as best secondary 2 scout for this camp respectively, sharing what the camp was like for them from their perspective.
Jalen Liang - Pigeon Patrol Leader:
Throughout this camp, we faced ups and downs, but focusing on learning from mistakes rather than dwelling on results allowed us to improve continuously. I'm proud of each of my patrol member's growth over this camp and I'm grateful to have seen everyone push their limits.
This experience taught me the importance of adaptability, resilience, and having a growth mindset.
Jaric Low - Outstanding Secondary 2 Scout:
On 31 May, the Catholic High Scout Troop took a bus to the campsite at West Coast Park. I noticed that the campsite had a lot of potholes and the ground was not as flat as our previous campsite last year at East Coast Park. This was quite a big challenge for my patrol, Wolf, as we were situated on top of a hill and the ground was sloping down. While building the pounders, the yingting’s tension kept loosening and the pounders flaps kept falling down. But we still managed to persevere and managed to tie the tent peg down.
During our hike to our dinner place at Harbourfront, everyone was very enthusiastic at first, but as we walked, everyone got tired and started feeling quite demotivated. I tried to motivate them by telling jokes and did my best to keep patrol morale high as everyone encouraged each other. I’m very happy that I managed to handle the journey and that I didn’t fall out.
The next morning, we did VOJ. It was quite tiring but fun as it not only trained running; each patrol had to race to the next checkpoint to earn more points. I learnt new first aid tricks like using a sharp thing to flick a bee sting off while also revising my current first aid knowledge. Secondly, we went to do archery and it was quite useful for me and my patrol to learn each other’s weaknesses and strengths as there was a segment to arrange each other for a mini competition. Lastly, we did an easier form of a Spartan race, and it was quite physically exhausting for my patrol mates and me, especially for me. I didn’t really have the stamina for it, but despite that, we all tried our best while encouraging each other to the finish line, clinching 1st in this event. I learnt about perseverance and resilience because without those, I don’t think I would have made it to the finish line.
I learnt from this fruitful camp about, firstly, having a sense of urgency. I’m very glad that my patrol has grown so much over this camp as we learnt to move fast but also to stay with each other to the finish and not to give up.
